About the...

BPS Daybed No. 115

Daybed No. 115, inspired by classic Danish furniture design and simplicity, features a bed frame of solid wood (oak, walnut or pine) with a single upholstered cushion in two optional heights. The hand-sewn buttons create a simple square pattern, and highlights the daybed’s geometric form. The daybed appears to float above the legs, while the cushion enhances comfort and relaxation. The key word around the design is quality, comfort and simplicity. The cushion comes in two sizes/heights; A 13 cm/5.1” cushion with pocket springs, available in two comfort levels: firm and medium and an 8 cm/3.1” cushion made of cold foam, Waterlily foam and fibre wadding; A form stable cushion with high elastic properties, which makes it a good choice for a daybed cushion. The foam provides a firm, environmentally friendly and comfortable support. Daybed No. 115 was designed in 2015 by Anders Hay and taps into the essence of Danish Modern with its clean lines, functional design and expert craftsmanship. Every piece is made in Denmark and individually numbered on final assembly. Bernh. Pedersen & Søn, a Danish furniture maker, has a long and strong tradition in furniture and cabinetmaking stretching all the way back to the company’s start in 1902. Through three generations the family firm has created and sold classic Danish furniture to many parts of the world. The period 1950 - 1970 in particular was characterized by some of the most stunning and well-executed pieces in Bernh. Pedersen & Søn's history. Especially the classic mid-century sideboards and daybeds designed by Danish furniture designers, including the Danish world-renowned Johannes Andersen, Svend Aage Madsen and Kurt Østervig who were - and still are - highly valued by customers worldwide. In 2015, great-grandson Thomas Bernhard Pedersen reestablished the company and started focusing exclusively on relaunching some of the exquisite furniture designed in the 50’s and 60’s.
