The type of cushions and pillows one enjoys is often a very personal preference. This goes for taste in furniture as well.
You can click the "Details" button for each filling option in the customizer section of our website to get more information about each option. Each filling has a different look and feel, and there are no restrictions to the combination of these options for your cushions and pillows.
Here is some info to help you sort through these filling options. If this isn't enough to make a decision, please don't hesitate to call us at 310.453.3604 with questions and we can help determine what is best suited for you.

Firmness
Feather and Down Options
Feathers/down fillings are always softer feeling than options without down. With more down, such as 50% down, the softer it will feel. The option of 5% down is firmer as it contains some fiber mixed in.
Foam Options
Some prefer soft, some medium, and some firm. Soft is still supportive enough for most people but offers the softest sit out of the foams. Medium is the most popular choice, just the right amount of lounginess for many. The bigger jump in terms of how it feels is from medium to firm (firm is pretty damn firm). Keep in mind, Latex and Polyurethane "firmnesses" are the same even though they are made from different materials.

Environment
Anything with Natural latex and feathers/down would be considered one of our Green options, and preferable to synthetic materials. Natural latex, while slightly more expensive, is much better for the environment and lasts longer (20 years vs 10 years) than Polyurethane foam. Down options of 25% or 50% down contain all natural, organically cleaned materials as well and are in general more comfortable than manmade Polyester fiber.

Style of Sitting
Loungy as Possible
If you are looking for the loungiest sit possible, go with down on the cushions and back pillows. The higher the percentage of down, the loungier the sit.
Comfy but Keeping Clean Lines
If you want something that will keep clean lines and be supportive but still comfy for long term sitting, try the combination of soft foam cushions and one of the down options for the back pillows.
Need Back Support
If you have a bad back or are looking for as much support as possible, go with firm foam cushions and foam or firm fiber back pillows. Stay away from soft options or anything with very high down percentages.

Appearance
Cleanest Look
The Polyurethane and Latex foam options are the best for keeping the cleanest, sharpest lines possible. Memory foam is almost as good for this because after you sit on it the "memory" takes hold and it goes back to the original shape. Polyester fiber is going to hold more uniform shape and create a cleaner look than down pillows.
Softer Look
Any filling containing feathers and down will create a "softer" look, with round edges and more unevenness on the surface. It can make the filling look more inviting to sit on, even while the frame of the furniture maintains its hard edges.

Maintenance
Minimal Effort
Polyurethane, Memory and Latex foam options as well as Polyester fiber will hold their shape for a longer time as they are less malleable.
Have to Work a Little
In general, any time you have feathers and down in your cushions or pillows, it will require more fluffing to maintain the original shape. As long as you don't mind being a fluffer from time to time, it's probably worth it for the down feel.
