About The Product
The Homework Desk is a fresh look at desk design. Notched drawers are cantilevered from the frame creating a floating appearance, yet the result is an extremely sturdy desk. This detail also makes assembly simple, with only a few bolts needed to assemble the whole desk.

More Information
The popular Homework desk is now available with a Wood Top available in Walnut, Oak, Ebony, and a new finish: Black Oak. The wood top accompanies the veneered drawer cabinets of the same finish for an all-wood version of the desk.
The top itself is made with premium veneers and solid wood edging on an MDF substrate, and expertly painted with European clear matte lacquer.
Legs are made from mirror finished chromed steel with clear polycarbonate feet. Drawers are available in either carefully matched wood veneers, or ultra high-gloss polyester. Drawer boxes are made of European birch plywood and equipped with soft-close runners that move silently and prevent slamming. The file drawer can be adjusted easily for both letter and legal size files. The tempered glass top is highly durable and maintains the overall lightness of the design.
A cable management area is easily accessed through a sliding panel, making it easy to get to even in tight spaces.
The all-wood desk is equally attractive from all sides and ideal for the home or small office where a desk will be on view. Single, double, or file drawers are available, and can be configured to one-side or double-side desks according to individual needs. An innovative construction method allows the drawers to ‘float’ below the top giving visual lightness to the design while giving rigidity to the construction. The drawers include integrated cable management compartments large enough to neatly organize multiple cables and accessories.

Brand
Manufacturer: Bensen
Bensen is a design and manufacturing group that began in 1981 by Niels Bendtsen. Along with his staff, Bendtsen designs and oversees production of an extensive line of furnishings. Our philosophy balances simplicity and honesty so that the designs may continue to grow in today’s ever changing world.
“Quality is a funny concept. We tend to think of it as being associated with handcraft. But quality is also about your attitude to design. Craftsmanship is just as much about how you run the machines that are now necessary for economic viability.”

Designer (ALL): Niels Bendtsen
Born in Denmark, Niels Bendtsen and his family immigrated to Canada in 1951. In place of a formal design education, he trained as an apprentice for his father, who designed and built Scandinavain furniture. Through working with his father, Bendtsen gained valuable skills and a respect for non-industrial, hand-built traditions, but he was also intrigued by new technologies and ways to satisfy incresing demand. Between 1963 and 1972, Bendtsen had his own retail store where he sold his father's furniture, as well as imported Scandinavian designs. He designed small items for the store, but it wasn't until he was in his early thirties that he truly began designing furniture. Dissatisfied with the quality and limited functionality of the furniture he received from his overseas manufacturers, Bendtsen sold his store, moved to Europe and became a full time designer.
In the 1980s, Bendtsen moved back to Vancouver, bought back his old store and added a manufacturing component. Using the skills he learned working with European factories, Bendtsen successfully found a balance between affordability, aesthetics and quality.
